My Teaching Library

Even though our family's learning style doesn't focus on worksheets and textbooks, I do incorporate printed supplements at times. I have found various resources all over the internet over the course of our ten-year homeschooling journey, but I was intrigued with the opportunity to review My Teaching Library. While some sites offer materials that are topic or age-specific, this one covers all subjects for PreK-12th grade.

We received a membership to the Download Club which grants us unlimited downloads and resources for one year.

My Teaching Library was founded by Lynda Ackert, an educator of 20 years who wanted to help homeschooling families come together to support each other. As the need for quality, low-cost educational materials grew, so did the site. Years ago, I found many helpful resources on CHSH-Teach, LLC. Now, because of expansion and demand, that company has grown and was renamed to My Teaching Library.

This site is aptly named as it is truly is a library of resources. All the materials can be found either by grade or subject. And the options within each category are extensive! There are nearly 60 downloads in the 4-5th grade math section alone. Of course, all the common subjects are covered, but there are some really interesting topics included, too, like character traits, a history of music study, Handicraft for Handy Boys book published in 1911, American sign language flashcards, and much more. There are puzzles, games, seasons and holiday learning, organizational helps, teacher aids, unit studies, lapbook, notebooking pages, file folder games, instructional videos . . . Should I go on? I mean, they even have a George Washington puzzle

I'm teaching two for kindergarten this year--two energetic little boys who are loving learning and growing together. As is our style, we are heavily concentrating on hands-on activities, but it is important that they learn writing skills, too. With almost 420 downloads in this kindergarten section, there is plenty to keep us busy and meet our needs.

The boys have enjoyed working on math concepts with the Big or Small worksheets and What Does Not Belong classification pages. Since we're learning letters, the Alphabet Coloring Book and ABCs Trace and Color pages have been helpful for not only letter recognition, but strengthening fine motor skills, as well. I'm excited to print off the CVC word family pages now that we've started combining letters to make simple words.

My older kids have been using things like the Spiders vs Insects mini-unit for 2nd-3rd grade, Learning About Amphibians worksheets for 2nd-5th grade, 5th grade spelling curriculum, and the Learn to Draw Ships book.

It seems that every time I look through the site, I find more resources that I want to use! There are a handful of This Day in History studies that I think would be interesting to investigate as a family, a Pennsylvania-Dutch Cookbook that is filled with tried and true recipes, and a Jeopardy game that is perfect for the Christmas season. Even now when I was perusing the site again I found something new--Holocaust curriculum for both middle school and high school students. With that being my current favorite time period to study, I knew I needed to download them both to use with my kids.

You can purchase each product individually or you can receive unlimited downloads and resource with an annual membership or a lifetime membership to the Download Club. Everything you download can be found under My Account on the site, so it's easy to keep track of all the amazing materials you've found.

Whether you're teaching students full-time or simply looking for resources to keep your kiddos learning and engaged, there's something for you on My Teaching Library.

Super Teacher Worksheets

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.

Anyone who knows us knows that our educational style is not based on textbooks, but rather literature and hands-on learning. Even though we don't focus on a lot of workbook pages, I love whenever we get a full 1-year membership with unlimited downloads/access to review Super Teacher Worksheets.

Why is that? Because they offer many options that keep my kiddos engaged and interested while covering a variety of topics.

Super Teacher Worksheets is a website devoted to providing teachers with printable educational materials. These aren't just your typical worksheets that are common and monotonous. There are pages that cover specific areas like determining cause and effect, finding adjectives that come after nouns, skip counting dot-to-dots, learning about the digestive system, tracing hexagons, literacy units for many popular books, plotting latitude and longitude, and much more. There are many crossword puzzles, word searches, cipher wheels, flashcards, coloring pages, sequence cards, and other games that support individual topics.

There are also hands-on activities such as a project to measure the heights of different people, a simple machines board game, word family memory games and word spinners, solar system scavenger hunt, and coin flipping to test probability. With over 16,000 printable teaching resources, there is something for everyone.

So many options can seem overwhelming, but the printables are divided into main topics:

  • Math
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Reading & Writing
  • Phonics
  • Early Literacy
  • Grammar
  • Spelling Lists
  • Chapter Books
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Holidays
  • Puzzles & Brain Teasers
  • Pre-K and Kindergarten

From there, you'll find many subcategories to meet specific needs. Once you choose a subject, the search is narrowed down even further. For instance, if you choose math and then volume, you'll have 5 worksheet options.
There is also a Teacher Helpers section that is full of resources to help keep you organized and provide some fun extras. There are dozens of awards and certificates (from reading 10 books to tying shoes to excelling in music), crafts (like a winter scene diorama and a bunny with movable arms and legs), electives (such as learning the parts of a computer and labeling musical notes), and anti-bullying resources (including stories, poems, and worksheets). There are also aids for sticker charts, lesson planners, word walls, lined paper, calendars, birthday decorations, and tons of templates.

Along with those aids, there is an entire section dedicated to worksheet generators. If you can't find exactly what you need already on the site, you have the option to easily create one with your own information. You can make bingo, flashcards, crossword puzzles, word searches, multiple choice, matching, short answer, and more.
I used the generator to make a cryptogram puzzle. I chose a Dr. Seuss quote and typed it in. Then I was able to personalize it by deciding on a difficulty level and key type (using numbers, letters, or symbols.) Then I printed. That's it! So fast and simple. I appreciate that I could make an easy option for a fun activity for my 8-year-old and then a more difficult version to work on critical thinking and common letter/word combinations with my 12-year-old. They enjoyed it so much that they asked for more puzzles like this.
Super Teacher Worksheets has been the perfect addition to our summer learning. We are year-round homeschoolers with a relaxed schedule in the warmer months. I like that not only do my kids enjoy the worksheets, but actually ask to complete them.
Our favorite section is Puzzles & Brain Teasers. We've worked through all the What Am I? challenges, traveled through Word Maze puzzles, guessed Hink Pinks, solved Thinking Riddles, deciphered Rebus Puzzles, became Number Detectives, and used our brains in other ways. The kids also really enjoyed plotting coordinates to graph pictures and solving math equations to find hidden objects. There are so many options for worksheets that feel like fun instead of work. The kiddos don't even realize they're doing "school!"
If you're looking for resources to supplement your curriculum or to add some fun summer exercises, Super Teacher Worksheets might be exactly what you need!

Super Teacher Worksheets

We were given an Individual Membership to review Super Teacher Worksheets. Even though our schooling is focused around reading and hands-on activities, but do we incorporate worksheets for extra learning and fun practice. My oldest would gladly finish his school career without ever completing a worksheet again, but I have 3 kiddos who love getting their own pages to fill out and color.

Super Teacher Worksheets is a website devoted to providing teachers with printable worksheets. Not just a few worksheets, mind you, but thousands. Pretty much, if you need a worksheet for a certain topic, they have it. Determining area? Yes. Cause and effect? Yes. Finding letter R words? Yes. Reading thermometers? Yes. Calculating weight on other planets? Yes. Identifying verbs? Yes. Counting by 7s? Yes. The list of topics is impressive. Of course, each topic is filled with many subtopics, as well.

  • Math
  • Reading & Writing
  • Phonics & Early Literacy
  • Handwriting
  • Grammar
  • Spelling Lists
  • Chapter Books (Literacy Units)
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Holidays
  • Puzzles & Brain Teasers
  • Pre-K & Kindergarten

There is also a Teacher Helpers section that is full of resources to help keep you organized and provide some fun extras. There are dozens of awards and certificates (from reading 25 books to zipping a zipper), crafts (like building a Thanksgiving diorama and creating a cute scarecrow with movable arms and legs), electives (such as learning the parts of a computer or labeling musical notes), and even reminder wristbands (for things like lunch money and field trips).

Along with those aids, there is an entire section dedicated to worksheet generators. You have the option to easily create a worksheet using your own information. You can make bingo, flashcards, crossword puzzles, word searches, multiple choice, matching, short answer, and more. If you can't find what you're looking for already on the site, you can make it yourself quickly and easily with these resources.

My kids love Star Wars, so I decided to make them a crossword puzzle just for fun. The generator is super simple to use. I filled in the appropriate information (level, title, ect.) and then listed the words I wanted in the puzzle. The crossword was created and printed in just a couple minutes. The hardest part was choosing which words I wanted, ha.

Another great aspect of this site is the My File CabinetYou can save your favorite worksheets with a click of a button in a digital file cabinet. You can access the file cabinet at the top of the screen. Once inside, you can see all information that pertains to the worksheets: the date it was added to the file cabinet, subject, topic, title, and choose which action you want to take.

The action symbols match the symbols that appear under each worksheet in the lists: aligns with common core, English and Spanish versions, preview file, and add to file cabinet.

My little ones have been having so much fun completing the pages I've printed from this site. One of my sons soaks up anything about animals, so I've been giving him all sorts of pages from the animal section, like mazes, scavenger hunts, and short articles with comprehension questions. My daughter is my crafty one, so she's made a scarecrow and turkey and used some of the writing prompts. I have a kindergartner who is enjoying the mini books, dot-to-dots, and letter pages. My oldest, who has never liked worksheets, has found a new favorite: hink pinks. It's actually turned into a good family activity that we've play quite often now, all because of a page I printed from Super Teacher Worksheets.

We have used so many sections of this site already, and I have plans for even more. There is so much more here than typical worksheets. They do offer a ton of FREE printables that can be found in each category, but a membership provides any worksheet or the ability to make your own that you might possible need. They also add new content every week and update the What's New tab, so you'll always be able to quickly and easily find the additions. These printable online PDFs are a great resource for any teacher to have.

CHSH-Teach Review

Homeschoolers are known for their abundance of printing. We go through paper and ink (and laminating sheets, of course!) like crazy. There are so many resources online to incorporate into your study. Whether you're needing letter formation practice for your kindergartner or a study of Emily Dickinson for your senior, you can find it. But while the resources are accessible, they're not always easy to find. Who has time to search for hours for a book to teach your little one step-by-step to draw flowers when you have children to school and a house to keep in order? That's when a subscription to the CHSH Download Club makes perfect sense.

Christian HomeSchool Hub, or CHSH-Teach.com, is a collection of materials to aid in your homeschooling journey. The site was created by Lynda Ackert, a Christian wife, mother, and educator of 20+ years. Because of her passion for teaching and creating educational materials, she began this homeschooling community online. Her motto is "Every child is a Masterpiece!"

CHSH-Teach.com offers many freebies on their site, like Abraham Lincoln worksheets and US states nomenclature cards, but the bulk of the resources are found their the download club. It boasts over 50,000 pages of educational material. Fifty thousand. That's a lot of homeshooling resources found in one place! Not only that, but the materials are organized in a way that makes it simple to find exactly what you need. Resources are divided by subject, grade, months, organization, and miscellaneous

There is a vast amount of topics that are included, but I will list a sampling.

  • Bible -- verse memorization, flashcards, puzzles, games, sermon notes
  • Languages -- Spanish, French, Italian, American Sign Language
  • Arts, Music, & Crafts -- instruction, drawing, knitting, embroidery, quilting, carpentry
  • Language Arts -- creative writing, handwriting reading, English, grammar, spelling
  • Math -- numbers, time, money, fractions, Roman numerals, multiplication, charts, graphs
  • Science -- experimentation, classification, biology, astronomy, chemistry, ornithology, botany
  • Social Studies -- map skills, geography, government, US presidents, time periods, civilizations
  • Electives -- architecture, character studies, social issues, safety education, Jewish history
  • Health -- dental health, digestive system, skeletal system, general health, brain/nervous system
  • Treasures from the Past -- McGuffey readers, literature, poetry, music, home economics
  • Fun Pages -- coloring books, individual coloring pages, word searches, puzzles
  • Lapbooking & Notebooking Units -- living things, people of the Bible, early America

Since CHSH-Teach.com is a whole community of homeschoolers coming together, it offers a wide range of not only topics of study, but styles, as well. There are full ebooks, individual worksheets, flashcards, forms, organizational tips, awards, and more. Individual members can upload content to offer to others. This, along with the forums and blog, keeps the community thriving.

I have found so many resources that I want to incorporate into our schooling this year. Because there are full books included in the download club, we can truly deepen our learning of some of the subjects. My oldest is interested in the Learn How to Play Guitar book. My daughter wants to read the American Girls Handy Book published in the late 1800s. The little ones will enjoy the nomenclature cards and flashcards for various subjects.

While I plan to include some of those full books into our days, the past month I've focused more on the individual pages. I print pages for the kiddos to complete during our annual vacation. I always prepare goody bags for each child to keep them busy and happy during the drive.  Each bag contains a folder with fun learning pages (hey, I've gotta be a good homeschool mom and include some learning, right?)

We've been learning Spanish, so I included some of those, like the months of the year, parts of the body, food, and animals. There is also a full Spanish curriculum with teacher's guide along with many other related pages. The kids always like Bible resources, so I printed games from that section. My oldest is interested in learning about the inner workings of the body, so I made sure to add pages that describe body systems. As always, I found some coloring pages to include, too.

The kiddos were excited to find the pages from CHSH-Teach.com. There was such a variety that it kept them busy and entertained. I, personally, appreciate the variety and ease of use. The site is very well organized and offers so many materials for teaching every grade. I anticipate making good use of our CHSH Download Club membership over the course of this year.

Super Teacher Worksheets Review

One of the great things about homeschooling is the flexibility. Whether it's the hours you keep, the place you study, or the topics you learn, you have the ability to choose what is best for your family. The bulk of our family's schooling is based around reading and hands-on activities. While some families might thrive on workbooks, I would be tempted to all but forgo their use, that is if my little ones would allow it. You see, two of my children love worksheets. They enjoy having their own fun papers. They love coloring. They like sitting at the table and completing a sheet. They are proud to show off their work. I knew they would be pleased that we received a year-long Individual Membership to Super Teacher Worksheets.

Super Teacher Worksheets is a websites devoted to providing teachers with printable worksheets. Not just a few worksheets, mind you, but thousands. Pretty much, if you need a worksheet for a certain topic, they have it. Counting quarters? Yes. Fact or opinion? Yes. Finding letter Q words? Yes. Learning landforms? Yes. Labeling body organs? Yes. Identifying verbs? Yes. Counting by 8s? And yes. The list of topics is impressive. Of course, each topic is filled with many subtopics, as well.

  • Math
  • Reading & Writing
  • Phonics & early Literacy
  • Handwriting
  • Grammar
  • Spelling Lists
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Holidays
  • Puzzles & Brain Teasers
  • Pre-K & Kindergarten

There is also a Teacher Helpers section that is full of resources to help keep you organized and provide some fun extras. There are dozens of awards and certificates (from reading 25 books to zipping a zipper), crafts (like building a neighborhood diorama and creating a feathered turkey), electives (such as learning the parts of a computer or labeling musical notes), and even reminder wristbands (for things like lunch money and field trips).

One of my favorite aspects of this site is My File Cabinet. You can save your favorite worksheets with a click of a button in a digital file cabinet. This feature is especially helpful for me. The best time I have available to browse the worksheets is when my baby is napping. The problem with that is that our wireless printer is in our bedroom, the room where he sleeps. If I try to print while he sleeping, well, let's just say naptime--and my time to browse worksheets--is over. I can save the worksheets I need in one place and then just print when he wakes up. I love it!

Another exciting part of this site is that it's up-to-date. They are coming up with new worksheets every week! It's easy to find the latest pages by clicking on the What's New tab. Need a page that's aligned with Common Core? They have that, too. The homepage also features worksheets that apply to the current time. Weeks ago there were Back To School pages; now there are autumn printables. The site is current. It's fun to see what changes each week.

My two little ones (7 yr, 5 yr) that I said love worksheets are enjoying all the fun things I've printed. They ask all the time if I'll print more. My other kids are enjoying the work, as well. My oldest (9 yr) has never been a worksheet-lover, per se, but he does like puzzles. I've been giving him pages like graphing to find a hidden picture and coded messages. My other child (3 yr) has been using resources like the letter wheels and mini books. There truly is something for everyone here.

We have used so many sections of this site already, and I have plans for even more. There is so much more here than typical worksheets. They do offer hundreds of FREE printables that can be found in each category, but a membership provides any worksheet or the ability to make your own that you might possible need. At $19.95 a year, it's completely worth it. These printable online PDFs are a great resource for any teacher to have.
